About the Artist...

Allison Craft grew up in Albany, Georgia. After graduating Georgia Southern University, Allison taught elementary school in art education for 17 years. This mother of 3 creatively balanced work and home life, while still finding time for her passion, jewelry design.

Allison gained a reputation for her whimsical and capricious murals and paintings, mermaids and the sea being her central to their themes. Vacation time along the Florida Gulf Coast became a great inspiration in both her jewelry and painting style. Everything about being by the water—shells and sailboats —sun kissed and tanned to soaking up the glow of a beautiful sunset—resonates in the works of this award winning talent who now resides in Key West, Florida.

Allison drills each pearl by hand and strings them along hand-cut conditioned leather. “I take a lot of pride in creating each piece and I hope it means something special to the person who wears it.” Allison admits the custom jewelry design is a lot of work, but the rewards are bountiful. “It’s so cool to see people wearing my jewelry,” she says. “I just have to smile inside.”

No stranger to celebrities who are fans, Allison is a music enthusiast who has ingeniously made musicians aware of her work. Among those musicians and celebrities who can be seen wearing her designs are John Oates, formerly of Hall and Oates, Amy Grant, Shawn Mullins, Kaci Bolls, the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders, Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, Jeff Black, Chas Sandford, Kelsey Waters, Brian White and Sam Bush, who won’t go onstage without his neck piece, which was inspired by the Karyn Williams song “Ordinary Angels”—he even has a backup.

Allison’s pearl and leather jewelry designs are her bread and butter. When the business grew to the point that she could no longer do it all alone, it really became a "family business" with the addition of her husband Scott Henderson. "Scott is challenged with keeping the business side of things going and keeping me focused, which is quite a job in itself!" says Allison.

There’s no doubt that this landed mermaid will stick to her unique style and that she will continue to handcraft unique pieces of jewelry using unconventional objects and techniques. Today, her one of a kind pieces are represented in boutiques from all over the U.S. and of course, her flagship store in Key West, FL.
